Welton Bombers U11 News – 10th March 2015

Wow! What a fantastic performance the lads treated us to against Louth on Sunday. A thoroughly disciplined display throughout the team gave them their best win of the season against one of the best sides in the league. Even after Louth drew level half way through the second half their character shone threw and in the end had a comfortable 5-3 win. There were some excellent finishes and superb goal saving tackles and commanding goalkeeping. They have now raised the bar for the the remaining 6 games of the season!
Many thanks to Ivan as well for an very good refereeing display, kept the game flowing and compliments from the opposing manager. (I think he missed Billy’s offside for the final goal though ūüėČ

Sunday 15th March Saxilby Home 10.45 Kick-off
We are going to ask the lads to put in the same level of commitment as they showed on Sunday and see if they can reach the highest league position as possible at the end of season. Alfie is unable to play so we will ask Connor to go in goal for at least the first half and see how we are performing. Sam Reeve is captain and we have Sam Champion as the league referee. Please be there for 10.15 latest.

We will shortly be asking you to ask your lads for their player of the year. This year as we have a bigger squad we will ve asking them to give us their first and second choice as there is a runners-up trophy as well. We will also be presenting the Clubman of the Year and Most Impoved Player of the Year on the 6th June presentation night – hope everyone can make it.

Regards Dave/ Adam

Welton Bombers U11 News – Jan 28th 15

Another great team performance by the boys on Sunday with the first clean sheet for Alfie Рwell done and extremely well deserved! Two more goals from Will backed up with another from Ged and a rare one from Billy Рa superb finish which coupled with his excellent passing and team possession earned him Man of the Match.

Sunday 2nd Feb – Louth Away – 10.45am Kick-Off

Following a string of relatively comfortable games  our next 4 are going to be a real test of their team resolve. We expect Louth to give us our biggest challenge this season but hopefully like our win against Wyberton we can spring a surprise! They play at The Pavillion, London Road Louth, LN11 9QP. We will be without Edward and probably Connor so the team will be as follows.

louth away

If the boys agree we will be playing this formation for the next 4 games (with some player rotation) as it gives the best chance of competing for a good result. Please be there for 10.15am latest.

See you all at training tomorrow Рproviding  we are not under 2 inches of snow!

Regards Dave/Adam

14-15 fixtures

Firstly please see our remaining fixtures for the year – as you will see we have a busy time ahead of us! Unfortunately we have 2 weekends where where we need to play on Saturday and Sunday. Please let us know if any of the lads are unavailable for any of the games – thanks!

You might also see that after Saxilby this Sunday we have a string of 4 tough games and we will be chatting to the lads after Sunday’s games as to how they want to approach them. If they are OK playing in each of their strongest positions for a few weeks without rotating it will be there best chance of getting a few points – it will be their choice though.

Sunday 25th Jan – Saxilby Away – 12.30pm kick-off

We have not played Saxilby since last year but they are a slightly stronger side now so should give the lads a good game. They play at William Street,  Saxilby, LN1 2LP which is different to where we played the 7v7 game last year. Please be there for 12 noon latest.

Team selection

Sunday 1st Feb – Louth OB Away – 10.45am kick-off

This will probably be the toughest game of the season so far and the start of a run of 4 very challenging games. This will be real test as to how far the boys have come as we haven’t really competed with Louth in our previous games. They play at The Pavillion , London Road, Louth ¬†LN11 9QP.

Hopefully see you all at training this Thursday.

Regards, Dave/Adam

Great performance again last Sunday against Hykenham Tigers with the first half in particular showing a high level of discipline and teamwork to put us 2-0 up at the break. After 3 quick goals in the second half we thought it would be comfortable but Hykenham came back really well to 5-3 until Will completed his hatrick to make it 6-3 and earn him man of the match. Special mention must go to Connor for agreeing to make his first appearance in goal with Alfie being poorly, he held a clean sheet for 45 minutes and was not to blame for any of the 3 goals – well done!

We are at home against the top of the league side Metheringham this Sunday so we know it will be tough. The kick-off is 10.45am so please be there no later than 10.15am as it will be very important this week to get all the lads warmed up together and ready for the kick-off. The team sheet is attached and will also be handed out to the boys after training tomorrow night. The timings of the substitutions as always will ensure everyone gets a really good game.

Great win for the boys on Sunday. They left it a little late but 4 goals in the last 10 minutes helped us to what looked in the end  a comfortable 6-2 victory. In addition to some really good finishing there were some good defensive displays in particular from Sam Reeves who got Man of the Match. A really good way to finish 2014 and leaves us 3rd in the league with games in hand on the teams above us!

It looks like we will have a full squad for the Quiz night at the Dambusters this Thursday , 6-8pm. There will be 2 boys teams and a parents allcomers team!

Team A – Billy, Alfie, Joseph, Eli, Sam Roach, Matthew, Adam

Team B – Will, Ged, Sam Bloom, Sam Reeves, James, Edward, Rauri

Team C – Parents

We will have 5 rounds with things like picture board, spot the ball, football rules etc.The team with the highest number of points at the end will get a medal but all players will get a ‘prize’ at the end anyway. The boys will be given hot dog and chips at about 7pm and you are free to order food during the evening anyway.

TRAINING –¬†Our next training will be on Thurs 8th Jan at 6pm on the 3G as usual

Hope you all have a good christmas !!

Welton Bombers U11 News – 19th Nov 14

Well the boys certainly like to keep us parents hanging onto the end, this week it was our turn to camp in the oppositions half in the last 10 mins and thankfully Joseph managed to get a winner with virtually the last kick of the game! It was a close game but we think we deserved the win to put us back on the top of the league. Man of the Match went to Adam for his usual solid display both in midfield and in particular in defence for the whole of the second half.

Sunday 23rd Nov – Ruskington Lions at Home – 10.45am Kick-Off

Although we beat these in the first game of the season we expect that this Sunday will be somewhat tougher and probably similar to last weeks against St Helens. I think the boys like us to play two up front so we will do the same again this week and see if we can get a few more lads on the score sheet. Adam will be captain. We have a league referee but would appreciate if anyone is happy to run the line

Sunday 30th Nov – Grimsby Colts at Home – 10.45am Kick-Off

This is a new team in our league and looking at their results so far will be the toughest game we have played all season. We will probably adopt the same formation and team that saw us beat Wyberton and let’s see if we can make it work again! Captain for this game will be Connor.

Caroline said that we already had £111 raised so far this season from match day raffles and fundraising in the Dambusters Inn. With 7 home games left we hope to get over the £200 mark again which will be a very good effort Рthanks!

See you all at training this Thursday where we will be focussing on Possession and see if we can carry this through to the match on Sunday.

Regards Dave/Adam

Welton Bombers U11 News

What a great game on Sunday! We were expecting a difficult game against Wyberton so to be 6-1 up at half-time was amazing credit to the boys and some exceptional finishing from Joseph! Wyberton showed great spirit to come back in the second half though and we had to show some battling spirit to just nick it 6-5 by the final whistle. We all went back to Dambusters Inn afterwards to watch the game again on video and have some well earned hot dogs and chips courtesy of the Greg the landlord. All in all a great day!

Sunday 16th Nov – St Helens Home – 10.45am Kick-Off

Our next game is against a newly formed side and we will take the ¬†chance to play a few more lads in attacking positions. As you know it is our policy (and always will be ) to play all the lads in different positions whenever possible to ensure they develop into all round good footballers. Could you please be there for 10.15 latest as it is very important the lads have a proper warm-up before the match. For the safety of the boys any lads who are late¬†it is best we start them as sub so they can warm-up on the line properly before coming on. We don’t yet have a referee for this game so any volunteers?? We are only aware of Connor being unavailable and Sam Reeve will be captain.

Sunday 23rd Nov – Ruskington Home – 10.45am Kick-Off

Although we beat this team 9-1 at the start of season they have had some close results as the season progresses so will be tougher opposition this time around. We believe that all the lads are available for this game and Adam will be captain.

Where possible we will continue to be using the video for matches and training sessions, not only as a bit of fun for the boys but hopefully to get across some good learning points. Anyone happy to video a half or two during the season then let us know (we do have to get permission of the opposing manager and parents first though). It will be good to try to capture some of the seasons highlights on DVD at the end of the season and should give us some great still shots for the presentation evening!

It was good to see the raffle being run again on Sunday, hopefully Caroline will be able to get close to the £230 from last season which, after giving £100 back to the club to help with subs, should leave us enough to treat the lads at the end of the season. Maybe a trip to Pleasure Island at Cleethorpes? Рjust a thought. It might also be good to have a bit of a Xmas party at the Dambusters on Thurs 18th Dec instead of training? We can have some snacks and maybe a football quiz with lads vs parents? Again just a thought!

Hope to see you all at training this Thursday.
