Bombers U11 vs Spilsby Team News

Well with only 4 games to go we can already say the boys have had a great season. Still some work to do though as after their last 3 wins we are only 3 points from the top of the league! Of the 4 games left though 3 are very tough but you just never know, they have already surprised us a few times this season.

Some extraordinary finishing against St Helens last Sunday from Ged, Joseph, Sam Reeve and in particular Eli, saw us romp home to a 7-1 win despite being 1-0 down after 2 minutes. Eli rightly won a Man of the Match not only for his hat-trick but his midfield defensive work as well.

We are playing Spilsby at home this Sunday 10.45am kick-off and if you remember we were drawing 2-2 at half-time when we played these last year so the boys will have to concentrate for the whole 60 minutes. The starting line-up is shown below;image
It should read a Sun 29th sorry!
We will only be giving the starting line-up in future to allow us to have options in the second half to give the lads the best chance of winning the game, something which is getting increasingly important to them as they get older.
We will obviously still ensure every lad gets at least half a game and over the season everyone should have similar playing times.

Please note there will be no training next Thursday as both myself and Adam will be away. Also the next 2 Thursday we have league games so our next training will not be until April 23rd and probably on the grass pitch if the lads prefer.

Welton Bombers U7 News 24th March

This week saw the second round of games in the cup competition held at Manor park.

Our first game was against Hykeham Tiger Bees which after an excellent first half from the boys, going in 0-0 despite having some good chances they also showed great defending as a unit. The second half started with pressure from Hykeham with them taking an early chance. The Bombers responded straight back with a well taken goal by Loui Whittaker bringing us back level. The remainder of the half saw some good chances at both ends before Hykeham scored two quick goals in the last few minutes to record a 3-1 win. Again week after week the progression from the team has been a joy to watch. Thomas Faers took the MOTM in this game with some good attacks but also working hard to help defend.

Our second game was against Rushton Sports, again the boys played some brilliant football creating chances throughout the first half and not conceeding going into the break. The second half the boys had to defend a little more than in the first half, while still creating chances that they was unable to convert due to Rushtons keeper pulling off some good saves. The boys deserved more from this game than they ended up with as Rushton scored the winner in the third minute of added on time. Charlie Scott was MOTM in this game with some excellent defending.

As said before the boys progress this season has been a joy to watch and lets hope it continues in the final stages of the season. We have no fixture this weekend but we will be training as normal at Manor Park on Friday evening.

Welton Bombers U11 News – 10th March 2015

Wow! What a fantastic performance the lads treated us to against Louth on Sunday. A thoroughly disciplined display throughout the team gave them their best win of the season against one of the best sides in the league. Even after Louth drew level half way through the second half their character shone threw and in the end had a comfortable 5-3 win. There were some excellent finishes and superb goal saving tackles and commanding goalkeeping. They have now raised the bar for the the remaining 6 games of the season!
Many thanks to Ivan as well for an very good refereeing display, kept the game flowing and compliments from the opposing manager. (I think he missed Billy’s offside for the final goal though 😉

Sunday 15th March Saxilby Home 10.45 Kick-off
We are going to ask the lads to put in the same level of commitment as they showed on Sunday and see if they can reach the highest league position as possible at the end of season. Alfie is unable to play so we will ask Connor to go in goal for at least the first half and see how we are performing. Sam Reeve is captain and we have Sam Champion as the league referee. Please be there for 10.15 latest.

We will shortly be asking you to ask your lads for their player of the year. This year as we have a bigger squad we will ve asking them to give us their first and second choice as there is a runners-up trophy as well. We will also be presenting the Clubman of the Year and Most Impoved Player of the Year on the 6th June presentation night – hope everyone can make it.

This week saw the boys play in the Under 7 cup competition held at Manor Park. The boys played 3 games in this round of the cup.

Up first we played Ruskington and it was a very good battling display from the boys despite losing out in the end. Again week after week the boys are playing as a unit and some very good passing football ended up with a goal for Loui Whittaker. Player of the Match was Oliver Grocock.

Second game was against Lowlands and the boys continued the brilliant team play into this game. The game had chances at both end but two superb goals from Loui Whittaker helped the team to a well earned victory. Player of the Match was Loui Whittaker.

The boys final game was a tough game against Birchwood. After a superb start to the game and two well taken goals one with each foot from Lewis Wilson the first half finished 2-2. The boys continued to create chances but could not turn them into goals in the second half eventually losing out in this game. Player of the Match was Lewis Wilson.

The boys have a break this week but will be training as usual on Friday at Manor Park 6-7pm.

Welton Bombers U7 News 7th March

This weeks game was an outstanding team performance with the boys putting what they had learnt at training into the game. The boys got stuck straight in from the off and had some very good chances early on. Our visitors took the lead with a well taken finish but the boys came roaring back with a goal from Loui Whittaker. The boys continued to put pressure on the visitors goal and had more chances thwarted by the St Helens keeper. The boys took the lead minutes before half time with an excellent finish again from Loui.

After the break the chances kept on flowing after some early pressure from St Helens but with the team sticking to the game plan they pushed on with goal from Lewis Wilson and Thomas Faers to end hopes of a come back from our visitors.

A tough choice for Player of the match this week with all the team playing excellent but Thomas Faers took the honours.

This week we are hosting the cup competition at Manor Park with games commencing from 10 o’clock. we hope to see you there.
